Department has fought for years to keep civilian judges from reviewing
evidence against terrorism suspects. But the Supreme Court ruled last
month that the detainees must have access to courts. The presumed
democratic and republican presidential nominees Barack Obama and John McCain spoke in Washington at the LULAC
convention today the League of United Latin American Citizens. McCain told the gathering that he still favors
comprehensive immigration reform but Obama took the opportunity to criticize
him, NPR's Mara Liasson reports. Speaking before a key group of
Latino activists in Washington today Obama attacked McCain for abandoning his support of
immigration reform to his party.
